今日はカナダデイで祝日。いわゆるカナダの建国記念日です。
色んな所で花火やコンサートなどのイベントが繰り広げられがお祭り気分の感じです。
この祝日が来るたびにお店の開店時のことが思いだされます。
そうキツラノで始めたカフェレストラン Masa's a a la carteです。

オープンを控え、お店の中で看板作りやメニュー作り、インテリアの模様替えなどを期待と不安とが程よく混ざりながらお店の中で準備していたのを思い出します。

Dear customers,
I am pleased to inform you that Masa's a la carte is having its pre-opening today.
I am the new owner of Masa's a la carte. I have worked for a fine dining Japanese restaurant for 5 years in Japan and also here
in Vancouver.
As you could see the menu of sandwiches, omelettes, and coffee have not changed much. The previous owner Kate was wonderful in serving you fresh food in a timely manner. Before changing ownership, I was trained by Kate, in her methods to provide good food and great service. I would like to try to keep as much as I can of her menu. That's how I will return her kindness and keep loyal customers. However there is something I can add to the menu from my cooking experience. For the first time I would like to add roll sushi on the menu. Step by step, I will add something more to the existing menu. I don't want to stick to just Japanese food or western food either. I just want to make delicious food to enjoy.
Because I like cooking very much and love to see people enjoying the food I prepare.Please try and enjoy a some different types of food, if you like. Or enjoy the foods that have brought you to this establishment
as a loyal customer.

あれから９年、お店は１年前になくなりましたが、今でも料理に関係し遅まきながらこちらの料理学校に行きながら西洋料理の基礎を学んでいます。
Masa'sを始める９年前はまだ日本で百貨店に勤めて催事場の企画運営の仕事を休みもなくしていたあの頃、９年後にまさかカナダでカフェをしているとは夢にも思いませんでした。
これから９年後、私も50代に突入です。そのときの青写真はまだはっきりしませんがこちらも期待と不安を抱きながら何とか頑張って精進したいと思っています。
ちょっと辛気臭くなりましたね。
さて皆さんの９年前はどんな感じでしたか、９年後の未来はどんな感じでしょう？
